As a health nut, I am always on the lookout for exotic foods and herbs that will take my health to the next level. A few years ago, David introduced me to an intriguing black goo called Shilajit and told me jokingly that it was “fossilized bat poo.” I have been using it regularly ever since and I have to say that despite its barn-like smell and not knowing what ancient materials it’s truly made of, it works and I love it!


What is Shilajit?

Shilajit is considered one of the most prized medicines in the Indian system of Ayurvedic medicine. It has been used for thousands of years for longevity, and a host of ailments.

Ayurvedic Expert, John Douillard explains: “About 50 million years ago, the Indian continent collided into Asia and formed the Himalayan mountain range. As the mountains formed, tropical forests were crushed and compacted between massive boulders. The compressed forests gradually transformed into a nutrient- and mineral-rich biomass loaded with medicinal humic and fulvic acids. Now, every summer as the mountains warm, India’s most prized herbal remedy literally oozes from these biomass resins in the high mountain crevasses.”

• 12 oz hot water

• 1 1/2 raw, organic  cacao powder

• 1 tsp Maca powder

• 1 tsp Reishi powder

• 1 tbsp coconut oil

• 15 drops ginseng

• 1/8th tsp cinnamon

• 2 tsp raw honey

• 1 oz Shilajit water (dissolve rice grain-sized amount of Natural Shilajit in 1 oz water — one shot)


Mix ingredients in a high-speed blender like a Nutribullet and drink immediately. You may enjoy this drink with a superfood drizzle.
