Let’s face it: cleaning the toilet isn’t a chore that most of us enjoy, but it’s a necessary part of life. As much as we might want to avoid it, we know that the longer we wait, the worse it will be. And we really don’t want to spend any more time scrubbing the porcelain throne than we have to.

Luckily, there are a few tips you can follow to help make your cleaning job just a little bit easier. You only need one thing to get started: Kool-Aid.

How To Remove Toilet Stains With Kool-Aid

This toilet-cleaning trick proves that Kool-Aid isn’t just for kids. It turns out that the brightly-colored drink can help keep your toilet in tip-top shape. If your toilet is full of hard-water stains that you just can’t get out, grab a packet of unsweetened Kool-Aid and let it work its magic.

All you have to do is open up a packet of unsweetened Kool-Aid, sprinkle it around the inside rim of the toilet and let it sit for about an hour. After an hour, you’ll probably return to find that your toilet bowl looks a lot like lemonade or fruit punch. This might deter you from ever drinking Kool-Aid again, but it will definitely help you clear out those stubborn toilet stains. After the Kool-Aid has soaked for about an hour, all you have to do is brush and flush! The acid in the drink mix will help break down though stains and clear unwanted build up. You hardly have to do any work!

How To Check For Leaks Using Kool-Aid

Yep, Kool-Aid packets can help you out with another toilet issue: figuring out whether or not you have a leak! Simply dump a packet of Kool-Aid into your toilet tank and wait about 30 minutes. If the Kool-Aid dye ends up seeping into your toilet bowl, you most definitely have a leak! It might be time to call a plumber.
