Chances are pretty good you’ve heard of ED. Erectile dysfunction (the inability to “get it up”) is a very serious issue that affects many men throughout their lives, and for various reasons.

If you’re here because you or someone you love is experiencing ED, you aren’t alone. How many men may be dealing with ED? The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases says as many as 30 million in the U.S. alone.

And that’s only those who report their ED. Understandably, many men are embarrassed about their inability to perform sexually. Most men actually never seek treatment, according to the American Urological Association.

It’s not hard to imagine why this is the case, with so much of our perception of masculinity involving “sexual adequacy” (whatever that means, anyway).

In a man’s quest to get his head (pun intended) back in the game, there are many options, a few of which involve prescription medications, and therefore, speaking to one’s doctor and showing up at the pharmacy, perhaps even having said medications show up on insurance paperwork.

And then there are natural supplements you can buy at your local health store, many of which are quite expensive and not covered by insurance.

But today I’d like to share with you a recipe for a drink that, aside from being rather refreshing, is actually a concoction that might work for you if you’re battling erectile dysfunction.

Made with pomegranate and celery root, this drink can actually boost your energy and, as such, is especially suitable if you suspect your erectile dysfunction concerns might stem from exhaustion.

DIY ED Recipe

The ingredients you’ll need are:

  • 100-120 gm of cabbage
  • 1 medium-sized celery root
  • half a cup of pomegranate seeds
  • a pinch of cinnamon powder


  1. Wash the cabbage, then slice it, along with the celery root.
  2. Boil these two ingredients together for about 15 minutes or until they are soft. Do not strain the water.
  3. Allow this mixture to cool.
  4. In your blender, add the pomegranate seeds, cinnamon powder, cabbage and celery root, and blend it all together until it is smooth.
  5. Strain the mixture to remove large particles (or don’t) and enjoy!

You’ll want to consume this drink an hour before duty calls, so to speak.

Other Considerations for ED

The following are listed by the Mayo Clinic as potential causes for erectile dysfunction. They range from serious and indicative of greater concerns to things that, while not as dire, you might still want to look into:

  • Heart disease
  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Tobacco use
  • Alcoholism/substance abuse

With the last two in particular, you may find it helpful to reduce or stop your intake of said substances if you know you’ll be engaging in sexual activity soon.

I do encourage you to speak with your doctor if you are experiencing ED as it is something very manageable. After all, your doctor is not there to judge or laugh at you. They deal with medical issues far more “embarrassing” than most of us can probably imagine.
