As the fight for true gender equality rages on, women are often faced with challenges each and every day. It might be constant pressure to be thin, sexual harassment in the workplace, or battling the notion that women should be “seen and not heard.” As a result, many women have found strength from within. With all of the pressures on women in today’s society, it’s important to know when to stand your ground.
Here are eight things strong women never worry about:
1. An Ex
The majority of the time, there’s a reason that your ex is your ex. Whatever the reason is why it didn’t work out, a strong woman doesn’t pine over past relationships. She knows when to move on, and she believes that she is in charge of her own happiness. She doesn’t need someone else to make her feel whole.
There’s nothing wrong with enjoying fashion as an art, but a strong woman doesn’t feel the need to keep up with the latest trends just to please society. She wears clothes that make her feel comfortable and confident, regardless of whether or not they’re “in style.”
3. Social Media
A strong woman may use social media, but she doesn’t base her self-esteem off of how many likes or comments she receives on a photo. She knows that the opinions of people on social media don’t define who she is.
4. A “Perfect” Body
The media has all kinds of standards that constitute the “perfect” body, but a strong woman knows that people come in all different shapes and sizes. She doesn’t let the world define beauty. Instead, she practices self-love and self-acceptance.
5. Social Status
A strong woman knows that money doesn’t buy happiness. She doesn’t let money rule her life, and she doesn’t let her social status define who she is. A strong woman defines success on her own terms.
A strong woman never gives in to conformity. She stands up for what she believes in and refuses to be silent. She embraces her unique qualities and she isn’t afraid to stand out in a crowd.
7. Past Mistakes
Strong women learn from their mistakes, but they don’t let guilt or regret from the past take control of their life. They know that everyone makes mistakes. It’s all a part of learning and growing.
8. Other People’s Opinions
If you based your life off of other people’s opinions, you would never find happiness within yourself. A strong woman knows that her opinion is the one that matters most. She strives to reach her own goals, find inner peace and be someone she is proud of.
