It’s easy, not to mention more economical, to make your own almond butter.

Almond butter prices seem to be creeping ever upward, but you can make your own for a fraction of the price of store-bought. All it takes is a pound of organic almonds and a high-speed blender. You can use raw or lightly roasted nuts, just note raw nuts will take longer to turn to butter.

Almond Butter Recipe

(20 min)

Ingredients

3 cups raw organic almonds

Instructions

Preheat oven to 250 F, spread almonds on a baking sheet and cook for 10-15 minutes.

Remove to a bowl or another tray to cool for 5 minutes or so before adding to a high speed blender. Blend on high. They will first turn powdery, then creamy. Should take a minute or so. Keep blending until desired creaminess is reached.

Pour into a seal-able glass container and store in the refrigerator.

Easy-peasy! Now you can enjoy your own homemade almond butter fresh with chopped veggies or in any recipe that calls for nut butter. Try these delicious almond butter and squash pancakes for starters!  Enjoy!
