The mainstream media and Monsanto continually insist that GMOs are proven to be safe despite the fact that a series of independent studies and analyses have found otherwise.
This is why millions of people are going GMO-free, buying organic food, or even growing their own food in order to make sure they and their families are eating safely.
One such study is courtesy of Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai, a systems biologist from MIT. His peer-reviewed analysis of over 6,000 lab experiments found that GMO soy accumulated high levels of formaldehyde, a Class 1 carcinogen.
Thus, Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai has made a bold offer to Monsanto that is both surprising and genius.
I'll give my $10 million building to Monsanto if they prove that GMOs have Standards for Safety Assessment https://t.co/ieGntIJx7k

The whole proposal reads, “If Monsanto can disprove the fact that there are no safety assessment standards for GMOs, the conclusion of our fourth paper, then I will give them my $10 million building (in Cambridge, Massachusetts).”
Ayyadurai also stated, “This is not a pro- or anti-GMO question. But (rather), are we following the scientific method to ensure the safety of our food supply? Right now, the answer is no. But we need to, and we can if we engage in open, transparent and collaborative scientific discourse, based on a systems approach.”
However, it seems unlikely that Monsanto will step up to the plate. They are protected by a long history of corruption and political deals in America even when other countries around the world are banning them.
Russia and 19 members of the European Union have banned GMO crops in their home countries. The governments cited health and safety concerns.
Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai is not alone in his worry. Ray Seidler, a former EPA Senior Scientist, and Michael Hansen of the Consumers Union feel the same way and recently spoke about in an interview with Ayyadurai.
Remember, the FDA also has not taken any official position on GM foods, but rather provides guidelines, such as substantial equivalence, from which they perform “safety consultations” and allow manufacturers to be self-regulating.
This is something that is often forgotten and not explicitly shared in the media. There is a big myth that the USFDA regulates and does safety assessment of GM foods. This is simply not true. The fact is that the FDA does not take a position on the safety of GM foods. A GM manufacturer simply self-reports the safety analysis of their product versus the non-GM counterpart, and the FDA simply sends them a standard letter, based on a “safety consultation”, to acknowledge the self-reported safety results. On the FDA website, you can see these standard “safety consultation” letters, representing over 101 consultations, which have been completed to date.
Why would Monsanto prove themselves now if they have not had to prove themselves in the past? They are protected and unable to be questioned in the US.
How can we stop Monsanto? It is important not to buy the food they grow. Not only is it dangerous, but buying it also shows Monsanto that they can continue doing what they are doing without consequence.
