Do you prefer lime juice over old-fashioned lemonade? Or maybe you have a taste for Key Lime Pie. Whatever your reason, let’s show you how to get the most juice from that lime you crave.

Use this tip from The Real Food Grocery Guide to get the most juice (and nutrients) out of a lime.

Youā€™ll need:

  • One or more limes
  • Kitchen knife
  • A bowl

To juice the lime:

Cut the lime lengthwise slightly right and left of the center, so that you have three pieces including the center ā€œcoreā€ of the fruit.

Repeat with the ā€œcoreā€ of the lime – cut slightly right and left of the center so that the center of the lime looks like a column, with only skin on the ends.

Take the four sides and juice them into the bowl as normal, using your fingers to squeeze the outside so the juice drips into the bowl.

To juice the remaining center column, hold it by the ends and twist it towards the bowl.

Now that you’ve gotten the most juice from limes, try this same trick on lemons, too! Also check out this post for the benefits of lime essential oil, and discover the many uses for that humble little lime.
