At least three people have reportedly died in a Friday afternoon shooting at the airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

WPEC reports that a “public information officer” confirmed “some type of shooting incident” at the airport.

According to CNBC, former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer was at the scene at the time of the shooting and tweeted the following.

CNBC also reports that the FBI is aware of the situation.

Further, an account apparently associated with the airport released the following statement, just minutes ago.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press reports hundreds of people have been evacuated from the airport and are now standing on the tarmac – a fact that appears to be backed up by this tweet.

Another tweet allegedly taken at the airport describes the police presence there.

One graphic image reportedly taken at the scene shows what appears to be a victim.

There is no word yet on what the motive for the shooting may have been.

Sun-Sentinel instructs anyone with a flight departing or arriving at Fort Lauderdale airport to “check with their carrier” as flights have been affected by the incident.
