The root cause of Carrie Fisher’s heart attack, that killed her on December 27th 2016, is sleep apnoea and “other causes” according to the Los Angeles coroners office.
Sleep apnoea is a common condition where a person stops breathing for seconds or even minutes while they are sleeping.
Although Fisher’s death certificate listed heart attack as her cause of death back in January, the LA coroner said her real cause of death was mostly unknown.
Along with sleep apnoea, the coroner also listed drug use and heart disease as other factors in her death.
Fisher has struggled with addiction most of her life. Her daughter’s words on the subject are incredibly moving:

A lot of fans are still upset about Fisher’s sudden death.
Every couple of months or so, Twitter likes to remind me that Carrie Fisher is dead and I would love it if we stopped doing that. I miss her

Carrie Fisher is truly missed:
“I’ll miss her, especially her humor and her sort of madcap approach to life. Her spirit is so strong.”
