“The weirdest thing I have ever seen.” These are the words of Kimberley Robinson who captured photographs of a large black ring floating above the skies in West Yorkshire.
“Me and my boyfriend were driving today and noticed a black flying ring in the sky,” says Kimberley of her experience driving down the M62 and suddenly witnessing the indescribable, “It looked a bit smokey but the shape was a solid ring.”
Despite being completely baffled by the UFO, she had unknowingly spotted something that’s been popping up all over the world in the last few years.
From Kazakhstan to Disneyland in California, these bizarre rings—often referred to as “smoke vortexes”—have terrified and mystified countless witnesses, sparing endless conspiracy theories.
Some skeptics, though, aren’t so convinced.
“Smoke rings in the sky like this one look very spooky and unusual,” said Nigel Watson, the author of “UFOs of the first World War.”
“In this case it isn’t an extraterrestrial spacecraft from planet Zog sent by evil aliens, but the byproduct of cannon fire of a battle reenactment at the nearby Yorkshire Wartime Event.”
Indeed, at the time of Kimberley’s encounter, a military reenactment was taking place with 500 military vehicles in use.
The apparent “smoke ring” is believed to be caused by a unique phenomenon in which cannon fire generates sudden perturbations in the air, creating a vortex that can resemble the UFOs.
Nick Pope, a former UFO investigator for the Ministry of Defense, also refutes the conspiratorial interpretations.
“Despite exotic theories about UFOs, aliens, or portals to other dimensions, I believe there’s a decidedly down-to-earth explanation here.
“A so-called smoke vortex can arise when you have a blast through a circular structure like a smokestack.
“So these weird effects can be caused by accident – or indeed by design.
“I realize that by debunking this I’ll probably be accused of working for the Illuminati or something, but I genuinely think we can close the case file on this one.”
Despite the skeptics, Kimberley remains shaken by what she saw.
And surprisingly, she’s not the only one.
In April, 2016, starling footage surfaced showing a similar UFO, but this time over the Magic Castle at Disneyland in California, in front of thousands of spectators.
“What is that,” exclaims one witness in the video:
The man who filmed it, Kyle Hawkins, said afterwards:
“No idea what this could be… Walking up main Street at Disneyland, following the parade.
“It was a windy night, couldn’t have been a smoke ring.
“Everyone watched it in fear/confusion. I half expected an alien portal to open up through this ring as we were gazing up in disbelief…The strangest thing I’ve ever seen.
“I yanked my phone out to record as soon as I saw this thing, then immediately uploaded to YouTube. This is raw footage, apologize for shakiness.”
